President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (08/12) officiated groundbreaking for the construction of PT Bank Central Asia – the largest private bank in Indonesia – in Indonesia’s new capital of Nusantara (IKN) in North Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan province.

“Let me extend my appreciation to the investment made by PT BCA. When it makes an investment in IKN, it is safe to say that the investment in this region is highly profitable,” the President said, while reaffirming the Government’s commitment to the construction of supporting infrastructure, including water facilities and roads to accelerate the realization of investment in Nusantara.

“The Government will build the road in front of the BCA office. It is impossible for investors to build their own infrastructure. To that end, roads, electricity, and water facilities will be built by the Government,” the President said, adding that 427 investors have registered to invest in Nusantara.

The President also expressed hope that domestic and international investors will accelerate their investment in the new capital.

“From the 427 investors, the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) have selected 220. We hope the OIKN will carry out the next step so investors will immediately realize their investment in Nusantara,” the President remarked. (KS/DN) (RI/EP)
