President Jokowi Officiates FIBA’s Indonesia Office
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated the Indonesia office of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) in the Special Region of Jakarta on Tuesday (09/17).
“Indonesia and I warmly welcome the office of FIBA in Indonesia as concrete support of FIBA to expedite and enhance basketball achievements in Indonesia,” he said, adding that Indonesia actively strengthens cooperation with international federations, such as FIBA that serves as the international governing body of basketball.
The President also expressed gratitude to FIBA for the successful 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Indonesia.
“Let me also thank FIBA for the support and trust in Indonesia, which led to the successful 2023 FIBA World Cup and Indonesia being one of the best hosts,” he said while expressing hope that the efforts made to develop sports result in more excellent athletes.
President Jokowi further said that intensive guidance, quality training, and organization of sports events and venue development with international standards are expected to create high-achieving athletes who will boost Indonesia’s reputation on the international stage.
“By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I hereby officiate FIBA’s Indonesia office,” he remarked. (KS/ABD) (DH/MMB)
