President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday (8/3) inaugurated a new terminal at Raden Inten II International Airport in Lampung province.

On the same occasion, the President also inaugurated Silampari airport located in neighboring South Sumatera province.

After the inauguration, the President told reporters he had ordered Minister of Transportation Budi K. Sumadi to launch international flights to and from the Bandar Lampung airport within the next two weeks. Airport train service from city to the airport must also be prepared immediately, he added.

“Airport train must be available to accommodate the growing number of passengers in the coming years,” President Jokowi said.

Expansion project for the next terminal at Raden Inten II airport, the President continued, is handed to the state-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura II to speed up the process, while Ministry of Transportation will be in charge to develop more airports in the country.

President Jokowi also expressed hope that the operation of the new terminal can help boost tourism industry, business, and investment in Lampung province. “This is a form of the Government’s support to accelerate growth in the province,” he said. (DNA/DNS/ES)
