President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo invited the people to send their prayers and best wishes to 53 crew members of the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine.

“We will continue our best in the efforts to search and rescue. To that end, let us send our prayers and best wishes to the 53 best patriots who have guarded the country’s sovereignty,” President Jokowi said, Sunday (25/04), at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java.

The President has received the latest report from Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff on efforts to search and rescue the submarine. On Saturday, 24 April 2021, the Indonesian Navy raised the status of KRI Nanggala-402 from lost contact (submiss) to sinking (subsunk).

“This tragedy has shocked us all, not only the families of the 53 crew members, the Hiu Kencana Corps as well as the entire Indonesian Navy, but also all Indonesian people,” the President stated.

He also expressed hope that the family members be given patience, fortitude, and strength. (FID/UN) (FI/MMB)
