Ahead of the official announcement of Presidential Election result by the General Elections Committee (KPU), President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo admitted that he will not monitor the event.

“No need to monitor it closely as I am pretty relaxed,” President Jokowi said after inaugurating Rotiklot Dam in Fatuketi Village, Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, Monday (20/5).

Meanwhile in Jakarta, Chairman of the KPU Arief Budiman said that the announcement can be made before the deadline on 22 May 2019.

“It may happen earlier than planned. Once the voting recapitulation is completed, we will announce the result. We’ll see,”Arief said at the KPU building, Jakarta, Monday (20/5).

If polling stations in 34 provinces as well as 130 Overseas Elections Committees (PPLN) have finished the recapitulation, the KPU can make the announcement as soon as possible, he added. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat / ES)
