President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, on Saturday (15/6), officially opened the 41st Bali Arts Festival by launching the festival’s cultural street parade in front of Bajra Sandhi monument (a monument that honors the struggles of Balinese people throughout history) in Denpasar, Bali.

“In the Name of Wara Nugraha Ida Shang Hyang Widi Wasa (God Almighty), I open the 2019 Bali Arts Festival and launch the parade,” President Jokowi said while hitting the traditional wooden kulkul bell, accompanied by Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, to mark the launching of the parade.

The parade featured the popular Balinese Pendet dance performed by one hundred high school dancers from Bangli Regency. In addition, there are also performances from other regions, as well as foreign countries such as from the People’s Republic of China.
