President Jokowi Opens HMI, KOHATI National Congress
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo applauded the Islamic Student Association (HMI) and its female corps KOHATI for their optimism in Indonesia’s future.
“I am glad to see the optimism of HMI and KOHATI cadres for the future of this country, as previously stated by the chairperson,” the President said at the opening ceremony of the 32nd HMI Congress and the 25th KOHATI National Conference in Kubu Raya regency, West Kalimantan province, Friday (11/24).
President Jokowi stated that there were several external challenges facing the nation. The challenges should be addressed by future leaders so that Indonesia will become a developed country.
“The future leadership is very decisive. The period of 2024, 2029, and 2034 will surely determine whether or not Indonesia will become a developed country,” the President said, adding that every country has the opportunity to take the leap to become a developed country.
On that occasion, President Jokowi invited all HMI and KOHATI cadres to remain optimistic in facing the challenges and take a careful consideration in electing the leaders.
“Take a careful consideration in electing your leaders. Having said that, the people have sovereignty to elect the leaders,” the President remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RI/MUR)
