President Jokowi Opens Vocational School Festival
Educational institutions must be able to respond to current needs and future challenges, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has stated.
“Our education must be in line with the current and future needs, solve problems, and must be able to make the most of existing opportunities,” the President said at the opening the 3rd Vokasifest and Independent Campus (Kampus Merdeka) Festival, Monday (12/11) at Graha Bhakti Budaya Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta.
According to the President, education sector should continue to innovate and continue to develop Indonesian young generation amid rapid changes and technological disruption in the world.
“Higher education and vocational education play an important role in teaching relevant science and technology, and in facilitating the public to access better education,” the President said.
The President also applauded Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology and its ranks for preparing talents and expertise for the future and for organizing the Vokasifest and the Independent Campus Festival as a bridge for cooperation between educational institutions and industry.
On that occasion, President Jokowi also expressed his appreciation for the Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) program for university students, with 900,000 beneficiaries in 2023, as well as higher education affirmation scholarships for students from disadvantaged, frontier and outermost areas (3T), with 7,400 recipients.
