President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo has ordered all ministers to simplify all regulations relating to investment and export.

According to Pramono Anung, the President also orders Minister of Trade as well as Coordinating Minister for the Economy to finish the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and Preferential Trade Association (PTA).

The Government realizes that there are many complaints about complicated process to obtain permits for foreign workers. Thus, the President has instructed all related ministries, such as Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and others to simplify the regulations within two weeks. Otherwise, there will be a Presidential Regulation to regulate this matter. However, still, these foreign workers must meet the qualifications needed in order to get the work permit.

“This is what we discuss in the Limited Meeting. Although our rank of Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) and our investment grade are now better, the President wants to improve other areas,” Cabinet Secretary says. (FID/JAY/ES) (MMB/YM/Naster)
