In the wake of massive flooding that hit capital Jakarta and its surrounding cities, President Joko ”Jokowi” Widodo has ordered all Cabinet Ministries to work hand in hand to help the affected communities.

“Minister of Health should handle (the post-disaster relief) in the health sector, Minister of Social Affairs should handle the logistics assistance for the victims, Ministry of State Owned Enterprises can organize SOEs to support the process,” the President said in his remarks at the Plenary Cabinet Meeting, at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday (6/1).

President Jokowi also ordered Minister of home Affairs to remind all regional heads to be vigilant and ready to anticipate disasters, especially during extreme rainy season.

“Preparation and evacuation plan are imperative,” the President said, adding he had also instructed the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), as well as the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) to support post-disaster relief operation.
