President Jokowi Orders Kanjuruhan Fact-finding Team to Reveal Investigation Results in One Month
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo ordered independent fact-finding team (TGIPF) for Kanjuruhan tragedy to reveal investigation results within one month.
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD after meeting with President Jokowi on Tuesday (10/04) told the press that the President called on the team to start their tasks immediately and bring the case into light within a month.
The team will work based on Presidential Decree which will be issued today. It will serve as a reference for other teams formed by various institutions to investigate the tragedy.
“For instance, Ministry of Sports and Youth had formed a team, so did the Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI) and General Supervision Inspectorate (Irwasum). That’s a great measure to investigate the case. The teams will work in coordination with us, the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs. That’s why the President issued the decree,” he said.
He affirmed that the team will work to meet the target set by the President. Therefore, the team will immediately investigate the case on the ground and find out the one who initiated the riot, gave order, and made decision about schedule of the match.
“We will meet witnesses and find out who gave the command and their networks, and find out why the match was still held in the evening though there was a proposal to change it to afternoon. There must be networks going on, business network, advertising network, and the like,” he stated.
He went on to say that the team will hold a meeting later in the afternoon to map their tasks before starting the investigation, and assign the team to meet related sides, such as the witnesses, the FIFA, and the police.
