President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo ordered all related officials to prepare the construction plan of the New Capital of Nusantara (IKN) meticulously to meet the target.

The statement was made by Chairperson of the IKN Authority Bambang Susantono after a meeting on Forest Area Release and Land Acquisition in the New Capital of Nusantara (IKN), led by the President at the Bogor Presidential Palace, Friday (06/03).

“The President gave directives to prepare for the implementation and planning, particularly multisector planning. In this regard, all ministries in the transition team have been working hard to consolidate and coordinate with each other to meet the target in 2024,” he said.

The construction works, he added, will absorb around 150,000 – 200,000 workers by 2023 in order to achieve the target in a given time.

Bambang went on to say that the construction of IKN will also take into account the environmental aspect and empowerment of local people.

Regarding forest and land conversion, he added, the Government will carry it out based on the prevailing laws and regulations. In addition, the Government will also preserve the forest through reforestation.

“Thus, we can create a sustainable forest city in the IKN, which is a green, smart, inclusive, and sustainable city,” he remarked. (TGH/AIT/UN) (RAS/MUR)
