President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (10/10) ordered newly-inaugurated Governor of Special Region of Yogyakarta province Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and Deputy Governor Kanjeng Gusti Pangeran Adipati Aryo (KGPAA) Paku Alam X to maintain staple food price stability and inflation in the province.

“Most importantly, I ordered them to focus the attention on matters related to food prices and inflation,” President Jokowi said.

The President added that countries around the globe are also facing difficulties with rising food prices and inflation.

Previously, President Jokowi in his directives to ministers, heads of institutions, regional heads, directors of State-owned Enterprises, Regional Military Command Chiefs (Pangdam), Regional Police Chiefs (Kapolda), and High Prosecutor’s Office Heads (Kajati), at the Jakarta Convention Center, Jakarta, Thursday (09/30) called on the regional government officials to speed up budget realization of general allocation fund (DAU) and unexpected funds to curb inflation at their respective regions.

He affirmed that the use of the budget for inflation mitigation has been regulated under a legal umbrella.

“Don’t hesitate to use the unexpected funds and general allocation fund because a Regulation of Finance Minister and Circular of Minister of Home Affairs have been issued to regulate it.  I have already told the Attorney General office, the KPK [Corruption Eradication Commission] regarding this issue given the urgency,” he said.
