Following Indonesia’s appointment as host of the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said that the event must be prepared properly.

“It is a trust given by the international community, the trust that the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has given to Indonesia,” said the President to the press in Jakarta, Monday (06/26).

For that reason, President Jokowi ordered Chairperson of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir to prepare the event as well as possible, starting from the venue of the match to the implementation management.

“I have ordered Chairperson of the PSSI to prepare it properly. We already have the venue that is ready to use. The management of the event must also be prepared well,” he said, adding that Indonesia already has a number of stadiums that are ready to be used as an alternative venue for the world football event.

“Our stadium is not only Gelora Bung Karno. We have other stadiums, such as JIS, Manahan, Jalak Harupat, there are many, Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya, and others,” he said. (BPMI SETPRES/UN) (EST/MMB)
