President Jokowi: Our Ocean, Our Future

Indonesia is a maritime country, and its water area is larger than its land, according to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

“I think we are all aware that the ocean is our future. Our ocean, Our Future,” the President said in his remarks at the opening of the 2018 Our Ocean Conference (OOC) at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), Badung, Bali, Monday (29/10).

At the end of his remarks, the President read a poem:

Do not turn your back on the oceans

Gaze upon them, embrace them with all your heart 

Let the ocean become your friend

A friend that provides livelihood  

for you, for your grandchildren, for your great grandchildren 

The ocean shall not divide us, the ocean should unite us

Bridging lands 

Bringing together civilizations 

An ocean of prosperity, it must become

A source of peace and stability

Nurture and care for them

Love your seas, Love your oceans

Because the Ocean is your future

Our Ocean, Our future 

Our Ocean, Our Legacy!
