President Jokowi Oversees Mass Vaccination in Sidoarjo

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (22/03) inspected mass COVID-19 vaccination at Delta Wibawa Pavilion in Sidoarjo regency, East Java province.

“This morning I am visiting Sidoarjo regency to inspect vaccination process. I want to ensure that the public has huge enthusiasm for participating in the vaccination program,” the President told the press after the inspection.

On that occasion, approximately 150 public service workers, religious leaders, and athletes received a dose of AstraZeneca vaccine, including Head of the East Java Ulema Council K. H. Hasan Mutawakkil Alallah, K. H. Ahmad Rofiq Siroj, and former national football team member Ustan Nawawi.

Mass vaccinations were also held in other locations in Sidoarjo regency at the same time.

The Head of State also inspected and gave directives on the vaccination process in several of those locations through a video conference to ensure the readiness of Sidoarjo regency government, hospitals, and community health centers to successfully carry out mass vaccination.

“I also want to ensure the readiness of the regency government, hospitals, and community health centers. We hope the national vaccination goes well,” he remarked.

For the record, based on the data from the COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Committee (KPCPEN), 9,397 health care workers in Sidoarjo regency have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine as of 21 March 2021.

In the meantime, out of 31,902 participants who have received the first jab, 19,482 public workers have received two doses of vaccines.

Also attending the mass vaccination were Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and Regent of Sidoarjo Saiful Ilah.  (FID/UN) (DH/EP)
