President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo reminded that the Government must pay attention to economic and social impacts of the development of Patimban Port in Subang, West Java on local fishermen.

“Please take this aspect into consideration; for example the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries can provide supporting facilities needed by affected fishermen, for example fishing boats,” President Jokowi said in his introductory remarks at a virtual Limited Meeting on the Acceleration of Patimban Strategic Project, from the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Tuesday (22/9).

On that occasion, the President also said that development strategies of Indonesia’s main seaports, including Patimban Port, Tanjung Priok Port, and other 28 main ports must be coherent.

By doing so, he added, the development will be more concrete and all ports will have segments that complement each other.

“Therefore, this measure is expected to accelerate the growth of national economic centers and accelerate the services on logistics sector, so that our export products will be more competitive and efficient,” he explained. (FID/EN)
