President Jokowi Pays Tribute to National Heroes in Nusantara Capital

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Saturday (08/17) led a ceremony to pay tribute to the nation’s heroes at the Kusuma Bangsa Garden, Nusantara Capital (IKN), East Kalimantan province.

The ceremony was part of the commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of Indonesia.

Upon arrival at the Kusuma Bangsa Garden, President Jokowi and First Lady Ibu Iriana were greeted by Commander of Mulawarman Military Regional Command Mayor General Tri Budi Utomo and his wife. The presiding officer of the Ceremony was Brigadier General Bayu Permana (Chief of Staff of Mulawarman Regional Military Command), and the commander of the ceremony was Police Senior Commissioner Matrius.        

On that occasion, President Jokowi led the ceremony and prayer to pay tribute to the nation’s heroes. The President expressed his utmost respect for the heroes who had served the nation and sacrificed their lives for the nation.

“We express our utmost respect for the sincerity and sanctity of the sacrifices of the heroes for the homeland and the nation,” the President said.

President Jokowi invited the public to remember the services of the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the homeland and to pray to God so that the heroes would be granted the blessing from the Almighty God.

“We do solemnly swear that the struggle of the heroes is our struggle and their devotion is ours. We pray that the spirits of the heroes will be accepted by the Almighty God,” the President said.

Afterward, all participants attending the ceremony paid tribute in a moment of silence, followed by prayer led by Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas. (BPMI Setpres/DNS) (RI/MUR)
