President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Ibu Iriana performed Eid al-Fitr Prayer 1441 Hijri in the front yard of Wisma Bayurini, the Bogor Presidential Palace, Sunday (24/5).

The Eid prayers were conducted at 06.32 Western Indonesian Time, led by Muhammadun, the Imam of the Palace’s Mosque.

In his sermon, Muhammadun said that Eid al-Fitr is a moment to erase all sins and mistakes, and for achieving goodness.

“If before Ramadan we hate each other, insult each other and made mistakes, after Eid we have to improve ourselves, forgive each other, and strengthen our brotherhood,” Muhammadun said.

Muhammadun went on to say that all fellow Muslims are brothers and sisters so they must do good to each other.

“I hope that the Eid al-Fitr become a moment for us to be better, more harmonious and more united and a moment to get mercy and forgiveness from Allah SWT,” he said.

For the record, Muhammadun, who led the prayer and delivered the sermon during the Eid prayer, is also a member of the Bogor Presidential Palace’s security team. Acting as Muezzin during the prayers was Herawan, an employee of the Bogor Presidential Palace.  (BPMI/EN)
