President Jokowi Performs Friday Prayer in Accordance with Health Protocol

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo performs the Friday prayer with the COVID-19 health protocol at the Baitussalam Mosque in the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java Province, Friday (19/6).

The Friday prayer was started with ablution rituals (wudhu), non-contact body temperature screening, and washing hands with a hand sanitizer before entering the mosque.

In the mosque, the rows (shaf) for the congregations were set at around two meters while praying instead of standing close to each other in their shaf like before the pandemic. In addition, the congregations should bring their own prayer mats (sajadah).

According to Presidential Secretariat Head Heru Budi Hartono, the Friday prayers at the Baitussalam Mosque are still attended in a limited number that includes officials, staff, and members of the Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres).

“Before the Friday prayer was held, the mosque was sprayed with disinfectant liquid. Afterwards, there is a hand-washing soap provided in ablutions place. Every congregation should also wear a face mask,” Heru said.
