President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Ibu Iriana on Friday (31/7) performed Idul Adha prayer 1441 H at the President’s residence Wisma Bayurini courtyard at Bogor Presidential Palace complex, West Java Province.

Acting as preacher and imam at Idul Adha prayers was Chairperson of the Baitussalam Mosque management, Bogor Presidential Palace, Muhammadun.

Muhammadun delivered his sermon titled “Performing qurban (sacrifice) is the message of the life of Prophet Ibrahim and performing qurban during the Idul Adha is a way to keep maintaining the relationship. The preacher also called for building good relationship and devotion to parents.

“Through qurban and alms, we share sacrificial meat to the poor, relatives, neighbors, and friends so we can connect friendship because friendship will increase the number of relatives, sustenance, and will extend the life of blessing,” he said.

Idul Adha is the second of two Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year (the other being Eid al-Fitr), and considered the holier of the two. It honors the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah’s command. (BPMI/EN)
