President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (01/11) discussed Indonesia-Philippines cooperation in transportation sector during a courtesy call from the Philippine Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista at the Peninsula Hotel in Manila.

As the joint venture contract for Indonesian state-owned construction companies PT PP and PT Adhi Karya for the North-South Commuter Railway Project in the Philippines was recently signed, President Jokowi expressed hope that the cooperation can be followed up shortly with a groundbreaking ceremony.

For that reason, the President stressed that it is imperative that both parties have strong commitment so the cooperation project can run well according to the set targets.

“In addition, I hope we can expand the cooperation to support the Government of the Philippines’ initiative to accelerate development,” he said while expressing hope that the two countries can continue to improve cooperation in transportation.

The President also expressed optimism that the two countries can continue to support each other, cooperate, and communicate well, including in facilitating business in the transportation sector.

“Thank you, Secretary Bautista for your trust in Indonesian state-owned enterprises and for this productive meeting,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (DH/LW)
