President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (02/12) took his free time to play badminton with national badminton athletes after watching the 2021 BWF World Tour Finals at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC).

In the training court, President Jokowi paired up with men’s singles athlete Jonathan Christie against Hendra Setiawan and Chairperson of the Indonesian Badminton Federation (PBSI) Agung Firman Sampurna.

After the match, Hendra Setiawan expressed his admiration for the President.

“Mr. President played badminton quite well,” Hendra said, adding that the match versus President Jokowi is more difficult than against the current world’s top duo, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon or “the Minions”.

In addition, Hendra Setiawan—the world’s second-best duo with Mohammad Ahsan—also prays for the President’s health and wellbeing.

“I wish Mr. President good health and can lead Indonesia to a more advanced future,” Hendra said. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat/UN) (GWH/LW)
