To commemorate the 2018 National Education Day, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Iriana  on Friday (4/5) at the Merdeka Palace played traditional games with children during an event called #JamMainKita (Our Playtime).

The event started with a traditional dance performed by students of Sulu Elementary School from Agats District, Asmat.

President Jokowi and the First Lady, along with the children, then sang a medley of children’s songs while playing kuda lumping, a traditional Indonesian game. The children also played other traditional games in the event, including ogor ban, congklak, gobak sodor, engklek, egrang, gasing, lompat karet and lompat tali.

After that, the President joining the children played ogor ban and gobak sodor with the Government Ministers present in the event.  In his remarks, President Jokowi repeatedly asked the children to mention the names of Ministers who attended the #JamMainKita.

For the record, the event was organized by Ministry of Social Affairs and Indonesian Children Protection Agency (LPAI) in collaboration with Johnson & Johnson.

Also attending the event were Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Minister of Education Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Health Nila F. Moeloek, Minister of Social Affairs Idrus Marham, and Chairman of LPAI Kak Seto. (FID/AGG/ES) (RI/EP/Naster)
