President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo during a Plenary Cabinet Meeting on Thursday (3/10) praised his Cabinet Ministers for their hard work in the last five years.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to the Ministers of the Working Cabinet for the hard work in running the Government’s programs,” President Jokowi said.

The President recalled in the beginning of his administration, he once said that Indonesia only has one vision, one goal, and one path, in which coming from the President and Vice President. There is no Ministers’ vision.

“Alhamdulillah, praise be to Allah, in the past five years we have a lot of achievements despite any limitations. However, I still see a lot of works that we have not been able to finish,” President Jokowi said.

According to the President, for the past five years the Government has established a foundation for the direction of national development to be more resilient, more productive, and more equitable. In addition, the Government has also carried out reforms in the fiscal sector, so that the State Budget has become more independent.

Moreover, the Government has developed the country’s infrastructures to be more Indonesia-centrist rather than Java-centrist.

The Government, continued President Jokowi, has also begun structural reforms although not yet on a large scale. So in the next five years, the Government will carry out massive structural reforms to improve competitiveness and to simplify complicated procedures.

“We have also carried out reforms in social protection and poverty reduction programs, especially for 40% of the low-income population,” the President continued.

President Jokowi considered that in his first term of presidency, the monitoring, controlling, and execution of the Government’s programs have been well-planned and well-executed.

“Thus, the execution process (of the programs) must be emphasized in the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) for 2020-2024, “said President Jokowi. (FID/JAY/ES)
