President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (09/05) invited Philippines President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. and Ibu Louise Araneta Marcos to visit the historic Sarinah Building, Jakarta, to show authentic Indonesian products.

The visit of the two countries’ leaders to Sarinah began with the wish of the President of the Philippines to see authentic Indonesian products. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed this wish during a meeting at Bogor Presidential Palace in the morning.

The two leaders looked around several retail stores of products made in Indonesia, such as shoes and bags.

On that occasion, President Jokowi also gave a painting called “Traditional Market” to President Marcos Jr. The painting depicts people making transactions, which symbolizes social interaction between individuals.

The two presidents also enjoyed several art performances at the building, such as the Cendrawasih dance from Bali province and musical performances by local musicians Difki Khalif and Segara.

For the record, Sarinah Building is Indonesia’s first shopping center. This state-owned shopping mall now serves as the home to MSMEs across the country. (Press, Media, and Information Bureau of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (YC/DH)
