President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo promises to raise remuneration of civil servants working for Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning (ATR)/ National Land Agency (BPN) as a token of the Government’s appreciation, even though he has not received the proposal yet.

The statement was made by the President to respond to the report of Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning / Head of BPN, Sofyan Djalil, regarding the proposal to increase renumeration of civil servants at his institution.

“I do not know (the amount of raise) proposed, but I will give the maximum wage because this is a token of gratitude to all civil servants working for BPN’s regional offices across the country,” President Jokowi said in his remarks at the Opening of the 2019 National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning /BPN, at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (6/2).

On that occasion, President Jokowi thanked all officials of Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning /BPN, for always exceeding the target set by the Government.

In the previous years, the National Land Agency (BPN) only issued 500,000 certificates per year, but the figure rocketed to more than 5 million, 7 million, and 9 million recently. “Such a huge leap should be appreciated,”  the President added.

President Jokowi admitted that all BPN officials have been working from morning to evening in order to meet the target set by the Government. Not to mention that the President always asks Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning to issue land certificates during his working visit to the regions of Indonesia.

“I called the Minister and he said the certificates are ready to be issued. When I visited the regions, I found out that they can do it though it was on very short notice,” the President firmly said.

Accompanying President Jokowi in the event were Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning / Head of BPN Sofyan Djalil, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung. (DNA/RAH/ES)
