President Jokowi Pushes for Reinforcement of Economic Cooperation with Canada

Indonesia is highly committed to enhancing cooperation with Canada moving forward, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.

The President made the statement on Monday (06/27) during a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau on the sideline of the G7 Summit in Elmau, Germany.

“This year, we are commemorating 70 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia-Canada. Indonesia and Canada must continue to boost the spirits of cooperation, collaboration, and multilateralism in facing current global challenges,” the President said.

Therefore, to strengthen economic cooperation, the President said he would push to conclude the deliberation of the Indonesia-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (ICA-CEPA) in 2023 that will bring positive impacts on business sector in both countries.

On that occasion, the President also expressed appreciation for Canada’s full support for Indonesia’s G20 Presidency. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (DH/EP)
