President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Saturday (01/13) attended a business dialogue with Vietnamese businesspeople/investors and Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính at Melia Hanoi Hotel in Vietnam.

In his remarks, President Jokowi pushed Indonesia and Vietnam to continue promoting collaboration to fulfill their vision of being high-income countries in 2045.

“Indonesia and Vietnam share a vision to be a high-income country in 2045 and to manifest it we require the strength of collaboration, including collaboration in business sector,” he said, adding that Indonesia has a huge carbon market potential worth over US$200 billion launched last year.

“I hope CT Group can play a major role in it,” he said.

Regarding investment of Vietnamese automotive company VinFast in Indonesia’s electric vehicle industry, the President expressed hope that the production target in 2026 can be achieved soon and that VinFast is open to collaborate with Indonesian businesspeople and researchers.

The President also expressed hope that regional development plans, including airport and tourism infrastructure development in Indonesia, under the archipelagic state’s cooperation with Vietnamese investment group Sovico Group can be executed shortly.

The President also called for an increase in Vietnamese airline VietJet’s flights to several super priority destinations in Indonesia such as Labuan Bajo, Mandalika, Likupang, Borobudur, and Lake Toba.

On that occasion, the President also invited Vietnamese businesspeople to invest in Indonesia’s new capital Nusantara.

“I invite you all to invest in Indonesia’s new capital Nusantara based on the expertise of your respective company,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (DH/EP)
