During a working visit to Bengkalis regency, Riau province on Tuesday (28/09), President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo had a dialogue with a young mangrove activist who expressed his hope to get tuition assistance for courses in one of exporter communities.

“Since in our village we find it difficult to obtain information [related to exports]. We also hope that we will have the opportunity to receive tuition assistance,” young mangrove activist of Bengkalis regency Kasbul Asror said.

President Jokowi thus asked the young man regarding local commodities that will be developed. “If I finance your tuition in one of exporter communities, what are your future goals here?” he said.

Asror explained that he wanted to help developing the potential of marine and fisheries products and rubber commodities in Bengkalis.

President Jokowi then ordered his adjutant to prepare Asror’s needs to study in one of export communities either in Jakarta or Solo and advised him to continue learning about the potential and capacity of export commodities in Bengkalis.

“In the future, you will be a bridge connecting farmers and fishermen to export their products,” the President remarked. (BPMI SETPRES/UN) (GWH/MMB)
