President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (04/12) received the 2021 annual report from the Indonesian Ombudsman during a meeting with the leaders of the agency at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

“The performance in 2021 was focused on several issues, namely public report completion, maladministration prevention through public service compliance survey at regional and ministry/institution level, and institutional development,” Chief of the Indonesian Ombudsman Mokhammad Najih said in his press statement following the meeting.

During the meeting, Ombudsman also discussed institutional reinforcement through revision of laws and regulations related to the investigation institution and other provision of facilities and infrastructure.

In response, President Jokowi expressed approval of Ombudsman’s performance for the past year and hope that the agency can improve its supervision.

“To that end, the President also expressed hope that Ombudsman continues to synergize with state institutions, ministries, and regional governments,” Najih said while expressing hope for the President’s support so that all ministries, state institutions, and other institutions related to public service supervision can cooperate to coordinate and synergize in dealing with the reports of the public.

On that occasion, a member of the Indonesian Ombudsman Dadan Suparjo Suharmawijaya also said that President Jokowi stated that the President will follow up the results of Ombudsman’s supervision seriously.

“The President stated that Ombudsman as a state institution is already consistent in supervising public service and the Government will take serious actions on the results of supervision reported by the Ombudsman,” he said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (DH/MMB)
