President Jokowi Receives Bawaslu Members for 2022-2027 Period
Presiden Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (09/22) received members of the General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) for 2022-2027 period at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
On that occasion, Chairperson of the Bawaslu Rahmat Bagja stated that he asked the President to provide supports in terms of monitoring facilities during general elections and provision of healthcare insurance (BPJS) for the Ad Hoc Elections Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu).
Rahmat also said that officers at polling stations located in outermost regions of Indonesia are expected to have facilities for conducting coordination with relevant authorities. Thus, further cooperation with the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), and regional governments is needed to address this matter.
The President ordered the Bawaslu as well to strictly enforce the law so that no one has courage to violate the General Election Law, either the penal provisions, administrative provisions or ethical provisions.
Furthermore, Rahmat invited President Jokowi to attend and inaugurate the Opening of the Global Network on Electoral Justice (GNEJ) in Denpasar, Bali to be held on October 9, 2022.
