President Jokowi Receives Condolence Messages from State Leaders on the Passing of His Mother

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo received condolence  messages from state leaders on the passing of his mother,  Sudjiatmi Notomihardjo on 25 March 2020.

King Salman of Saudi Arabia expressed his condolences to President Jokowi during his remarks at the G20 Extraordinary Virtual Leaders’ Summit, Thursday (26/3).

Through official letters received by the Bureau of Press, Media and Information (BPMI) of the Presidential Secretariat from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the state leaders who also expressed their condolences include Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Singaporean President Halimah Yacob, and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

“It is with great sadness to hear the news on the passing away of the Mother of His Excellency. I want to extend my deepest condolences and sympathy,” the letter from Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah reads.

In addition, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and UAE Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also expressed their condolences.

“We are sorry to hear the passing away of the Mother of Your Excellency, Mr. President, we share our sympathy and sincere condolences to Your Excellency, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, and Your Excellency’s family,” the letter reads.

Aside from the letter, the Crown Prince also expressed his condolences through his Twitter account. “I offer my condolences to my good friend President Jokowi of Indonesia on the passing away of his mother. I offer my deepest sympathies to her family. May she rest in peace, and may they find patience and solace during this difficult time,” it reads.

Condolences messages also came from Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq, Prime Minister of Bahrain Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, President of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embaló, and Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin. (BPMI/EN)
