President Jokowi Receives Courtesy Call from Secretary of Russia’s Security Council

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (12/13) received a courtesy call from Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council Nikolay P. Patrushev, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

During the meeting, President Jokowi addressed several priorities during Indonesia’s G20 Presidency.

“The President received a courtesy call from Secretary Nikolay Patrushev and reiterated priorities of Indonesia’s Presidency at the G20 and sought support from Russia,” Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi said.

On that occasion, the President also pointed out that Indonesia will assume the ASEAN Summit in 2023. To that end, the President called for cooperation with Russia during the Chairmanship of ASEAN.

The Head of State also welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the field of Indonesia-Russia International Information Security to be carried out between Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD and Secretary Patrushev tomorrow.

“Secretary Patrushev will conduct bilateral security consultations with Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs and this has been the sixth consultation,” added the Foreign Minister.

Retno went on to say that Russia has been a good partner for Indonesia, adding that Indonesia will continue to foster strategic trust with all countries and all Indonesia’s partners.

“The strategic trust is essential as a foundation to build a mutually beneficial and respectful cooperation. This is also needed to build a peaceful, stable, and prosperous world and Indonesia has a very high commitment to provide contributions to materialize it,” she remarked.

The Minister further said that the President earlier also received a courtesy call from the United States Secretary of State Anthony J. Blinken. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RIF/MUR)
