President Jokowi Receives Letters of Credence from Seven New Ambassadors
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, on Wednesday (21/10), received Letters of Credence from seven new Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Indonesia, marking the official start of their ambassadorial duties in Indonesia.
The event was held at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta by adhering to strict health protocols.
The seven new Ambassadors are as follows:
- Benedetto Latteri, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to the Republic of Indonesia;
- Iv Heang, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Republic of Indonesia;
- Taesung Park, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Indonesia;
- Johannes Peterlik, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to the Republic of Indonesia;
- Manuel Antonio Saturno Escala, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Panama to the Republic of Indonesia;
- Lars Bo Larsen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to the Republic of Indonesia; and
- Sung Yong Kim, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Indonesia.
The Credential ceremony began with the welcoming ceremony for the Ambassadors at the front yard of the Palace. Afterwards, the President received Letters of Credence from those Ambassadors sequentially. The ceremony was then followed by a joint photo session and the reverberation of national anthem Indonesia Raya.
Accompanying President Jokowi in that event were Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung. (DND/UN)
