President Jokowi Receives State Welcoming Ceremony from President Ruto

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo paid a state visit to the President of the Republic of Kenya William Ruto at the State House, Nairobi, Republic of Kenya, on Monday (08/21).

Upon arrival at around 10.00 local time or 14.00 Western Indonesian Time, President Jokowi was welcomed by President William Ruto at the front courtyard of the State House. The two leaders then walked together to the stage of honor.

Afterwards, the national anthems of both countries were played accompanied by a cannon salute. Then, President Jokowi inspected the ranks of honor. It was followed by introductions of delegates from respective countries.

Shortly after, President Jokowi and President William Ruto walked to the Presidential Court to conduct a face-to-face meeting and ended with a group photo.

On that occasion, President Jokowi and President of Kenya joined the other delegates of each country at the Credential Hall to conduct a bilateral meeting. At the same room, after the bilateral meeting, both leaders witnessed the signing and exchange of Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two countries.

Both leaders, accompanied by their respective delegates, also gave a joint press statement at the Presidential Lawn.

The series of state welcomes ended with a state luncheon held at the Banquet Hall, the State House.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Indonesian Ambassador to the Republic of Kenya Mohamad Hery Saripudin also accompanied President Jokowi in the event.
