President Jokowi: Rehabilitation of Affected Schools, Educational Institutions will Start Soon

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo had an unplanned visit to State Junior High School 1, Warungkondang district, Cianjur regency, West Java province, on Monday (12/05). The school is located not far from Darul Falah Islamic Boarding School which had been visited previously by the Head of State.

After inspecting Darul Falah School, President Jokowi and the entourage were scheduled to visit Sirnagalih village, Cilaku district, to inspect instant, simple, and healthy houses (RISHA houses) with earthquake proof technology for the people affected by the disaster. However, on the way to Darul Falah School, President Jokowi visited Warungkondang State Junior High School 1 and observed the impact of the earthquake on the school.

In his press statement after visiting RISHA, President Jokowi affirmed that the rehabilitation of the schools and other educational institutions affected will be initiated soon.

“I went to visit Warungkondang State Junior High School 1, the rehabilitation is already started, and other educational institutions will follow. Not only a few but a lot of schools will be rehabilitated soon,” the President said.

Moreover, President Jokowi said that rehabilitation will also be carried out for other social facilities soon. According to President Jokowi, the debris resulted from the earthquake have been removed, so it will speed up the rehabilitation process.

“Such as a mosque in Warungkondang district, which is currently in rehabilitation process because it has been cleaned by the people, so it can be rehabilitated immediately,” President Jokowi said.

Accompanying President Jokowi during the inspection were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency Suharyanto, Vice Governor of West Java province Uu Ruzhanul Ulum, and Regent of Cianjur Herman Suherman.
