In a bid to curb the COVID-19 spread, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo restated on the importance of locally-based intervention strategies.

“Decisions to respond to additional cases in provinces, regencies, and cities, I instruct everyone to always look at the geographical distribution data,” President Jokowi said at the limited meeting on the Report of the Committee on  COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery via video conference from the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (14/9).

The reason for the implementation of locally-based intervention strategies, the President reiterated, is so that the handling can be more detailed and focused.

“In a province, for example, there are 20 regencies and cities, not all of them are in the red zone, so the handling, of course, should not be generalized,” the President said, adding that they need different treatment.

The President also reemphasized the importance of the management of interventions on local and community scales. “So once again, don’t rush to close an area, a city, a regency. And if we work based on data, intervention steps will run more effectively and can immediately resolve problems in the field,” the President said.

According to the President, the management of clusters handling in the local mission needs to be improved. “Especially in 8 provinces which have become a priority since 2 months ago,” the President stated. (TGH/EN)
