The way people interact has changed rapidly; it can bring positive or negative impacts to the country. Thus, we have to watch our words, uphold good ethics and manners, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.

“The patterns of interaction have changed. Now, information both positive and negative can be spread easily. We can easily get information about various situations outside the country from television or through YouTube, for example, protests in Hongkong, protests in France, Brexit in the United Kingdom, and economic crisis in Venezuela,” President Jokowi said when delivering his remarks during the opening of the 13th Communication Forum for Men of Indonesian Churches, at Sunan Hotel, Solo, Central Java, Friday (6/9).

Therefore, the President added, patterns of interaction must be established from the family by creating a loving family. Thus, father as the head of household plays a significant role in protecting and guiding, as well as teaching the family about kindness and faith in this ever-changing world.

“Since the country as the biggest forum is started from the smallest forum (family), creating a loving and compassionate family is an effort to maintain and preserve the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia,” the President said.

The President went on to say that Indonesia’s diversity is God’s destiny, God’s rule for Indonesia. There is no other country as big as Indonesia which consists of more than 17,000 islands, different local languages, ethnic groups, and traditions.

“We must understand that Indonesia is a big nation. Any conflicts must be resolved immediately, particularly in this age when social interaction can be accessed through social media. We must not let the conflicts worsen as those in Hongkong, France, or Venezuela,” President Jokowi firmly said. (MAY/JAY/ES)
