President Jokowi Requests Ministries/Government Institutions to Create Pro-People Program

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo requested Ministers and Heads of Government Institution (K/L) to check their working programs.

“Routine programs which have been done for years can be changed to more productive and beneficial programs that can bring real benefits to the people,” said President Jokowi in a Plenary Cabinet Meeting, at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (16/5).

According to the President, every Ministry or Government Institution has a lot of routine programs.

“I can clearly see that we are just performing routine programs. If we continue to do that, we could not make any breakthrough, “ President Jokowi continued.

To Eliminate Regulation

President Jokowi explained that short, medium, and long term fiscal macro strategies have been on the right track.

“We also continue to improve and review the postures of the fiscal and State Budget” the President added.

Moreover, the President also reminded the importance of investment and export, particularly to increase economic growth and to create job opportunities in Indonesia.

For labor-intensive investment, President Jokowi stressed to simplify licensing procedures as much as possible.

“Eliminate unnecessary regulations at the levels of Ministry, Echelon 1, Directorate General, as well as State-Owned Enterprises that have obstructed investment and jobs creation,” the President said.

President Jokowi also asserted that only with investment and export, Indonesia can increase its economic growth.

The Plenary Cabinet Meeting was attended by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, Minister of Defense Ryamizard Ryacudu, and Minister of Empowerment of State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Asman Abnur.

Also attending the meeting were Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasona M. Laoly, Attorney General M. Prasetyo, Head of State Intelligence Agency Budi Gunawan, Commander of Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Chief of Indonesian National Police General Tito Karnavian, Minister of Transportation Budi K. Sumadi, Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan, Minister of Social Affairs Idrus Marham, Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, and Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Rini Soemarno.
