President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo respected the decision of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to arrest Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) Romahurmuziy in a sting operation and named him as a suspect in bribery case.

“I am deeply concerned about the case, but I respect the KPK’s decisions and the legal process that it performs,” said President Jokowi at Cambridge Hotel, Medan, North Sumatera, Saturday (16/3).

Earlier in a press statement at the KPK Building on Saturday (16/3), Deputy Chairman of the KPK Laode M. Syarif said that the KPK officially named Romahurmuzy along with two other people as suspects in bribery case on the promotion process in Ministry of Religious Affairs during 2018-2019.

“After carrying out a thorough examination, it was found out that the suspects offered or accepted bribes to rig the promotion process in Ministry of Religious Affairs during 2018-2019,” La Ode said.

Besides Romahurmuziy, the Head of Gresik Regency Regional Office of Ministry of Religious Affairs Muafaq Wirahadi and the Head of East Java Regional Office of Ministry of Religious Affairs Haris Hasanudin also caught red-handed by the KPK in Surabaya on Friday (15/3). (DNA / DID / ES)
