President Jokowi Respects Legal Process of Corruption Case Involving Communication Minister

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo (Jokowi) asked all parties to respect the ongoing legal process involving Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G Plate.

“We must respect the ongoing legal process,” said the President in response to journalists’ questions, at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, Friday (05/19), shortly before taking off for a working visit to Japan.

The President expressed belief that the Attorney General will work professionally in handling the case.

“The Attorney General’s Office will definitely be professional and open to everything related to this case,” he said, adding that the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD will serve as the Acting Minister of Communication and Informatics.

For the record, the Investigative Team at the Directorate of Investigation of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes named Johnny G Plate as a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the construction of 4G BTS tower infrastructure and supporting infrastructure for package 1, 2 3, 4, and 5 of BAKTI program of Ministry of Communication and Informatics from 2020 to 2022.
