President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (02/29) led the groundbreaking of several infrastructure projects at the Nusantara Capital (IKN), in North Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan province. This groundbreaking shows a high level of interest to invest in the IKN.

“Many investors are queuing [to invest], but we must ensure which plots of land are clean and clear for development and decide in which zones the construction will take place so that the ecosystem could be built immediately, and the city would grow,” he said in his press statement adding that a good land and ecosystem management to ensure sustainable urban development is important.

According to him, investors are more optimistic after the elections. However, the groundbreaking must be regulated in order to preserve the ecosystem in that region.

On that occasion, the Head of State showed the map of IKN and the position of each cluster. He revealed that the spots indicating development projects in the IKN areas are quite dense, particularly at the west part of the city.

“Actually, the west part of IKN has more spots but they are not showing on this map. This part is the densest in the past two, three months,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RAS/MMB)
