There was something special during President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s working visit to Tarakan city, North Kalimantan province on Tuesday (19/10/2021). Usually, the President uses the presidential car during his working visit, but he decided to take a P6 ATAV (All-Terrain Assault Vehicle) V1 tactical vehicle owned by the Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres). He wanted to promote this locally manufactured vehicle.

“We all know that the President always wants to promote local products including food and beverages, shoes, jackets, and custom motorcycles. On this occasion, the President introduced a locally manufactured tactical combat vehicle, except the engine [was not locally manufactured],” Commander of the Paspampres Major General Tri Budi Utomo.

Furthermore, Tri said that President Jokowi wanted to be close to the people in every working visit that was why he preferred to take a semi-open vehicle at that time.

Regarding the vehicle’s security, the Paspampres’ Commander said that the entire body of the vehicle including the front glass is armored by bulletproof steel. This vehicle is also equipped with Gunshot Detection System that has features to detect and locate enemy fire.

“The steel pipe frame in the vehicle also can protect [driver and passengers] from collision if an accident takes place,” he remarked. (PRESIDENTIAL SECRETARIAT/UN) (AP/MMB)
