President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has ordered Ministers, Heads of Institutions, and regional leaders to reduce the number of imported goods for procurement and increase allocation for domestic products.

“[We must stop] buying imported CCTVs. We can produce our own goods. We [must also avoid] importing uniforms and shoes for soldiers and police,” the President said, Friday (03/25).

According to the President, if the State Budget, regional budgets, and state-owned enterprises budget were used for procurement of domestic products, the growth of economy in the regions could be spurred.

The President also ordered regional leaders to support SMEs in their respective areas to immediately use e-catalog.

“Regional leaders, governors, regents, and mayors must put high quality products of our SMEs in e-catalog,” he said.

In response to complaints from MSMEs players regarding the Indonesia National Standard (SNI) certificates, the President said he had ordered relevant stakeholders to facilitate the SNI licensing.

The President further said that all relevant stakeholders must ensure that the policy is well implemented on the ground.

“I order Minister of Finance and the Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP) to monitor the number of transactions and submit the daily report to me,” the President remarked. (MAY/AIT/ST) (RI/EP)
