President Jokowi Seeks Technology Cooperation with Tsinghua University

President Jokowi receives the President of Tsinghua Univesity, Qiu Yong, on Sunday (14/5), at Hotel Conrad Beijing

President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo on Sunday (14/5) received the President of Tsinghua Univesity, Qiu Yong, at Hotel Conrad Beijing, China.

The President took this meeting to enhance cooperation, particularly in technology, between Indonesia and Tsinghua University.

“Tsinghua University is known in Indonesia as one of the best universities for technology which produced many China’s leader,” President Jokowi said.

The President also appreciated the cooperation which have been established, particularly on executive management, and science and technology sectors.

In that meeting, President Jokowi also appreciated the signing of Letter of Intent (Lol) between Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry and Tsinghua University on the Community Empowerment for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership for the Industry 4.0.

Moreover, the President also expected the plan to establish a Tsinghua South East Asia Center for Innovation, as well as the cooperation between Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry and Tsinghua University will be realized soon.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Jokowi mentioned the aphorism carved on campus in front of its grand auditorium, which says “Facta, Non Verba” that means “Acts, Not Words”.

“That saying is also the spirit of my Government, always work for the sake of our nation and country,” President Jokowi told the President of Tsinghua University, Qiu Yong.

For the record, there are 40 Indonesians studying in Tsinghua University.

Also accompanied President Jokowi during the event were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut B. Pandjaitan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto, and Indonesian Ambassador to China Soegeng Rahardjo. (DNS/ES)  (RA/EP/YM/Naster)
