After leading a ceremony in commemoration of National Heroes Day and sowing flowers at the Cikutra Heroes Cemetery, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo sended off the cycling event participants in front of Gedung Sate, Bandung, Saturday (10/11).

On this occasion, President Jokowi—who wears Bung Tomo (Indonesian local hero) attire—also took part in the cycling event adopting a theme ‘Bandung Sea of Bicycles’ with a start and finish point of Gedung Sate on the route to Diponegoro Street – Ir. Djuanda Street – Merdeka Street – Aceh Street – Banda Street with a total distance of 3.7 kilometers.

“By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I officially open the ‘Bandung Sea of Bicycles’,” the President said and dispatching the participants on 09.10 a.m. Western Indonesian Time.

For the record, there were approximately 25 thousand participants involved in the event.

Also present on the event were Minister of Social Affairs Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto, Commander of Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI) Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Chief of the Indonesian National Police General Tito Karnavian, Coordinator of Special Staff to the President Teten Masduki, and Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil.
