President Jokowi Sends Out 2020 New Year’s Wishes

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday (1/1) conveyed 2020 new year’s greeting to all Indonesians.

“As of today (1/1), we have passed the 2019 and welcome 2020. As a big nation, Indonesian must be proud because we have faced many challenges and made numerous achievements,” President Jokowi said in his Facebook page on Wednesday (1/1).

Today, the President added, Indonesia must be ready to face upcoming challenges and take opportunities with optimism.

“Although uncertainty is predicted to continue to plague the world economy in 2020, we have unity, solidarity, and tenacity as our assets to face it,” said the President who spent the new year’s eve 2020 in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

For the record, President Jokowi was in Yogyakarta for a working visit to inaugurate Kamijoro Dam in Kulon Progo Regency (31/12).

On that occasion, President Jokowi pledged he will come back to inaugurate New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA) when all the works is completed.

He also instructed that the airport construction should not be done hastily, adding that the most important thing is that several runways and facilities in the airport can be used for operations.

“At least, the aircrafts can land and take off from the airport,” he said, while asking the public to wait for the completion of NYIA.

The President went on to say that land acquisition for the NYIA train was completely done, that will be followed with construction process. “I hope the project can be completed immediately. Nevertheless, I will not give deadline,” President Jokowi stated. (AIT/OJI/ES)
