During his visit to the Nusantara Capital (IKN), President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo expressed optimism for this year’s ceremony on the commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, slated to be held in the IKN on the upcoming August 17.

“I am optimistic to have Indonesia’s Independence Day ceremony in IKN on August 17, 2024,” he said after commencing groundbreaking of several infrastructure projects.

The President said that the development of IKN shows great progress since many investments started entering the new capital, including the project to construct Jambuluwuk Nusantara Hotel.

“Earlier, I commenced the groundbreaking of Jambuluwuk Hotel and Resort. It is the sixth hotel and resort [in IKN] in which the construction is expected to begin immediately and to be completed as soon as possible,” he added.

President Jokowi also lauded the development of a logistics hub by the Indonesian state-owned post office PT Pos Indonesia in partnership with state construction firm PT Bina Karya. The hub, he stated, will add facilities and infrastructure, as well as ensure logistics in IKN.

“I think the other infrastructures, will add the number of facilities and accommodation for guests visiting the IKN,” he said.

On that occasion, the Head of State also said that there will be around 8 to 10 project groundbreaking ceremonies each month that reflect high enthusiasm from investors.

“Actually, many investors are waiting to invest but they still need to be verified and matched with the needs in the IKN,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RAS/MUR)
