President Jokowi Signs Presidential Instruction on Budget Efficiency

uang-rupiah-300x200Under Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 4 of 2017 on Budget Efficiency of Ministries/Institutions in the Implementation of State Budget (APBN) Fiscal Year 2017, signed by President Joko Widodo dated 22 June 2017, the Government will make savings of the Ministry/Institution’s (K/L) goods expenditure amounted to Rp16 trillion from the initial plan of Rp237.098 trillion to Rp221.098 trillion.

In this regard, a number of Ministries are subject to substantial savings (above Rp1 trillion), namely: a. Ministry of Transportation from Rp11.951 trillion to Rp9.951 trillion; b. Ministry of Health from Rp13.435 trillion to Rp11.526 trillion; c. Ministry of Education and Culture from Rp22.031 trillion to Rp20.148 trillion; and d. Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education from Rp10.942 trillion to Rp9.462 trillion.

In addition, based on the data contained in the annex of the Inpres, the Ministry of Religious Affairs is saving Rp1.389 trillion from Rp15.790 trillion to Rp 14.401 trillion; the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) is saving Rp700 billion from Rp2.897 trillion to Rp2.197 trillion; Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing from Rp20.232 trillion to Rp19.715 trillion.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Forestry and Environment from Rp2.961 trillion to Rp2.492 trillion; Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries from Rp4.877 trillion to Rp4.525 trillion; Ministry of Social Affairs from Rp3.078 trillion to Rp2.830 trillion; and Ministry of Manpower from Rp1.888 trillion to Rp1.652 trillion.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is saving Rp461.068 billion; Ministry of Agriculture Rp437.473 billion; Ministry of Finance Rp363.600 billion; Ministry of Industry Rp227.057 billion; Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rp249.400 billion; Ministry of Tourism Rp272.555 billion; Ministry of Villages, Underdeveloped Regions, and Transmigration Rp268.600 billion; and Ministry of State Secretariat Rp36.044 billion.

In addition, the Ministry of Trade is saving Rp166.207 billion; the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Rp167.639 billion; the Marine Security Agency Rp188.306 billion; the Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf) Rp204 billion; the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) Rp126.772 billion; and the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Rp100.010 billion.
